THE COMPLETE IDIOTS GUIDE TO PLANT BASED NUTRITION by Julieanna Hever, MS, RD, CPT // A vegan diet is by far and beyond the most effective way to protect and heal your heart. This book is truly what it claims to be, taking the reader through everything you need to know about plant based nutrition: special concerns in planning a vegan diet, label reading, how to plan a meatless meal. What I appreciate most is that Julieana emphasizes whole foods as much as she emphasizes plants – no mock meats here!

THE SWIFT DIET by Kathie Swift, MS, RDN // After listening to a webinar by Kathie, I’m a little bit obsessed with her! She just seems like someone you want to go and have drinks with (of bubbly, probiotic rich kombucha of course). And we would have plenty to talk about because she is obsessed with a topic I’m passionate about – gut bacteria. This book teaches you exactly how to eat to nourish healthy intestinal flora.

GO GREEN, GET LEAN by Kate Geagan, MS, RD // Plain and simple, the modern American diet isn’t sustainable. If you care about the environment, and I hope you do, you must think about the impact your eating choices have on the earth. NO WHINE WITH DINNER by Liz Weiss, MS, RD and Janice Newell Bissex, MS, RD // I had the pleasure of spending the weekend with Liz and Janice at Blog Brulee, and besides being the most hilarious dietitian duo, these two are experts on getting picky eaters to try new foods. Half cookbook, half guide, this is an essential tool for families with children. I actually bought it as a resource for my clients, and have cooked many of the recipes myself. The food is kid AND adult approved.
